GRASS AND FORAGE SEED MIXTURES

At the Courtyard Partnership we are very proud of our reputation for putting together bespoke grass seed mixtures specifically designed for the location and purpose for which they are to be used. This makes for seed mixtures that last longer, are more effective, and also cost less. Simply by paying attention to detail, and understanding how and where different herbage species grow best, we can supply leys that represent outstanding value for money.

We are enthusiastic and financial supporters of the NIAB Herbage Varieties Guide, from where all the latest information on herbage cultivars can be obtained. We convert this information into a clear and simple document, called a Seed Plan, for each grass mixture that we produce. A Seed Plan allows you to learn about the individual characteristics of each cultivar in a seed mixture, and also how they complement one another in the mix.

We are members of the British Grassland Society Forage Legumes Group and Associates of IGER. This allows us to tap into the best available information regarding the establishment and utilisation of legumes.
For clear analysis of the grasses used in our mixtures we draw information from NIAB data to produce seedplans (example below). These unique seedplans allow you to measure how different cultivars will perform.

We have been involved in the supply of organic seed to organic farmers for many years, and have a good understanding of the organic market place.

The restrictions regarding the use of seed dressings, fertilisers and herbicides in organic agriculture mean that establishment and utilisation of organic seed mixtures has to be managed rather more carefully than is the case with conventional crops. We give advice regarding all aspects of these processes, and make frequent farm visits in order to ensure that our ideas work in practice.
