NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT PLANS
With growing concerns over water quality and agricultural pollution, Nutrient Management Plans are fast becoming a 'must have document'.
All farms will face a visit from the Environment Agency in the coming years. A Nutrient Management Plan will supply the officer with all the relevent NVZ information he\she needs, it will also cover all aspects of the Entry Level Nutrient Management Plan (EM2 & OM2).

NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT PLANS
- A Nutrient Management Plan is a means of balancing nutrient flows in and out of a single field or an entire farm.
- The starting point is to carry out soil analysis for major plant nutrients in order to determine whether there are sufficient resources already present to grow a crop.
- Where additional fertiliser is required in order to produce a crop, it should be added in a timely and measured manner so as to minimise cost and undesirable environmental consequences.
- Resources already on farm should be used in preference to bought-in fertilisers.
- A Nutrient Management Plan can be compared to the farm accounts and balance sheet. It allows you to monitor the short and longer-term sustainability of the farm system. If nutrient reserves are reduced below critical levels, it may not be economically possible to continue crop production.

FERTILISER RECOMMENDATIONS
- Fertiliser Recommendations based on precise nutrient budgets are produced for both arable and livestock farms.
- Our staff possess in-depth knowledge of soil types within the United Kingdom and this is used to fine tune recommendations to match local conditions.
- Recommendations always take into account restrictions such as Nitrate Vulnerable Zones, and incorporate the latest advice to avoid damage to the environment.
- Fertiliser plans are supplied in bound reports for the farm office, and a loose-leaf format suitable for use by staff who apply the fertilisers.

- Our in-depth knowledge of fertiliser products and the fertiliser market enables us to provide recommendations that maximise user efficiency. Specialist slow release fertilisers are recommended for amenity areas.
MANURE PLANS
- Manure Plans based on precise nutrient budgets are produced for organic and conventional livestock farms.
- For organic farms, a Manure Plan may include recommendations for the use of permitted fertiliser products.
- We recommend that organic manures are sampled and analysed rather than relying on standard, published nutrient value figures. We can undertake manure analysis and interpretation of the results.
- Recommendations always take into account restrictions such as Nitrate Vulnerable Zones, and incorporate the latest advice to avoid damage to the environment.
PRECISION FERTILISER RECOMMENDATIONS
- Our unique system of mapping GPS-delineated management zones based on soil boundaries allows more precise fertiliser and manure applications. Separate recommendations are made for each management zone.
- We are able to program variable-rate fertiliser spreaders to apply products, or farmers may make use of our map-based fertiliser plans to manually control fertiliser applications.
- This approach avoids the necessity of having to hire in specialist contractors and spreading equipment at extra cost.
